Core Values

We believe in capitalism with a conscience. All vendors that sell products on UpSpending.com are privately held (or non-profit) and have attested to uphold the following core values in their businesses.

  •    Living wage - anyone that works full-time (32+ hours/wk) should be paid enough to afford a place to live and food to eat (calculated based on the vendor's location as 300% above the poverty level for that area)
  •    Diversity - recognize that having a workforce of people with differences in race, gender, sexual orientation, age, physical ability, religion is good for business
  •    Equity - provide access to resources and opportunities for all to succeed
  •    Inclusion - ensure that policies don't exclude anyone from participation
  •    Planet-consciousness - wherever possible, work toward a net-zero or net-positive impact on the environment
  •    Healthcare - provide basic healthcare as an option to all full-time employees (applies to businesses with 10+ employees)

In addition, vendors agree to...

  • Pay 2% commission on sales generated (minus tax/shipping) to support UpSpending.com and its mission (50% of our profits are donated to non-profits that fight for civil rights, environmental protections and campaign finance reform)
  • Announce their participation on UpSpending.com to their employees (checks and balances)
  • Display the UpSpending.com logo on their website (which will link to this list of core values)
